PROJECT

The Center for Health and Gender Equity (CHANGE) reached out to Gillian to polish a field report that examined how the Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) program is being implemented in South Africa and Kenya — they are among the 10 sub-Saharan African countries where the $385 million public-private partnership aims to curtail HIV infection among adolescent girls and young women. CHANGE was particularly interested in assessing the program’s attention to girls’ sexual and reproductive health and rights. Gillian provided substantive edits to the report, including restructuring the copy to ensure that it was clear, organized and persuasive, addressing gaps in information, and selecting pull quotes to complement key points in the overall narrative. She collaborated closely with the communications team and policy analysts at CHANGE as well as with a creative agency to complete the project.
